Suverina's Military Support For Us

Recommended Posts

The Commonwealth of Independent States is committed to worldwide peace, cooperation, and friendship. It is a fundamental principle of the Commonwealth of Independent States that no member nation thereof shall ever engage in aggressive war. Instead, all member nations, individually and collectively, shall adhere to the following principles and practices:

I. On War:

Article 1: All member nations shall work tirelessly and earnestly for the prevention of war and the maintenance of peace.

Article 2: All member nations shall maintain a policy of strict neutrality, if at all possible.

Article 3: No member nation shall attack any other nation in Europa, unless certain circumstances obtain. These circumstances are;

Sub-section 3-a: If any member nation is attacked they may defend themselves and engage the enemy in belligerent military activity

Sub-section 3-b: In the event that any member nation is attacked, all other member nations are, by default and automatically, at war with the aggressor nation.

Sub-section 3-c: However, exceptionally, if the member nation has been attacked because it has unnecessarily provoked attack either by word or by deed, the Commonwealth of Independent States governing council reserves the right to block belligerency by all other members of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Any member nation acting in contravention of the governing council's express ruling shall be subject to expulsion from the Commonwealth of Independent States. The governing council will also reserve the right of determination as to whether any member nation invited attack by unnecessary word or deed.

Sub-section 3-d: It must be noted and accepted by all member nations that their actions, automatically through membership in the Commonwealth of Independent States, will affect all other member nations. For this reason, the above sub-section (3-c) is necessary. Any member nation that acts belligerently, or that invites attack upon itself or other member nations, will be drawing all member nations into belligerency. This must be avoided at all costs because, after all, our main goal is the preservation of peace and neutrality.

TO: The Government of Suverina

FROM: CIS Governing Council

We have appended a lengthy section from the CIS Charter, to which Suverina is a signatory. We have received word that Suverina intends to militarily support Upper Strathyclyde. The governing council has ruled that Suverina must stop military support for Upper Strathyclyde immediately. Suverina's continued support for US has the potential to draw the CIS into a war in which we have no interest at present:

Article I states that all CIS members must work towards the maintenance of peace. Military support of US in the Ravenhelm conflict runs counter to said article.

Article II states that we shall remain neutral if possible. Potentially entangling Suverina in a US led war runs counter to our neutrality policy.

Article III states that CIS member states shall not attack any other nation in Europa unless certain circumstances obtain. The governing council has ruled that those certain circumstances have not been met. Suverina has not been attacked in this instance, and any war-like suport for US may drag the entire CIS into their war as per Sub-section 3-b. We draw particular attention to the following passage from the charter: "Any member nation acting in contravention of the governing council's express ruling shall be subject to expulsion from the Commonwealth of Independent States. The governing council will also reserve the right of determination as to whether any member nation invited attack by unnecessary word or deed." Military support for US in this instance might invite military attack.

We wish to continue working with Suverina and impress upon them the dire nature of their support for US. In recent times the US has withdrawn from the CIS, been granted readmission and then again withdrawn. This last withdrawal was accompanied by the severing of diplomatic ties, and threats against the personal freedom of our diplomats in US territory. Diplomatic ties have not been restored to date. We would like to take the US at its word when it says it is seeking better relations, but the manic nature of relations with them (at one time terrible, then good, then bad again) makes us wary of supporting them. The governing council will require a significant period of normalized relations with US before we can even think about militarily supporting them again.

Please cease military support for Upper Strathyclyde immediately.

We recognise that however hypocritical and Biased the CIS is, we would not want Suverina to lose its position on the council. As such we deny any military support given in the future, from that nation.

You may now cease the red tape.

It is exactly this type of infammatory rhetoric which troubles the council. We hope you understand.

We are unsure how you got your hands on our encoded message to Suverina [OOC: wink.gif] , but we are glad that you have seen fit to take a troubling decision out of Suverina's hands. Thank you.

TO: Rekamgil, other CIS members

From: Suverina

We are withdrawing any offers of military support to the US. It is clear that our whole government didn't agree on doing it. It was mostly leade by various military leaders that the government can not be taken part of. We excuse ourself for this incident and the responsible government officals shall be imprisoned.

As you know we must withdraw our offer, although our support shall always be with you.

We shall support you with material and supplies if we can.

I'm going to close this thread as well, as it's a bit pointless now US has left the region.

If anyone disagrees, please do PM me and we'll sort something out. smile.gif
