  1. Teopac of Foreign Affairs Meztlitlaca's foreign affairs is primarily handled by the Teopac (Department) of Foreign Affairs. The TFA was first established in late 1934 under the South Paluvian government, in which the TFA saw limited use outside of Fulgistan, Shffahkia, and neighbouring nation states. After the overthrow of the South Paluvian government and the formation of the Dominions of Metztlitlaca in 2005, the Teopac of Foreign Affairs began to see increased use as the newly formed Metztlitlaca moved away from partial isolationism. Today, the TFA maintains numerous embassies and consulates across the world as part of Metztlitlaca's goal of relevancy. Metztlitlaca does not shy away from rubbing shoulders with regimes most countries would not want to be seen publicly interacting with outside of condemnations. Metztlican lax foreign approach to forging friendships - coupled with its own controversial baggage - does put Metztlitlaca on the same step of the controversial ladder as places like Faramount, outer Ceris nations, and some of the poorer Europan nations. A nation that has a positive relationship on the map shown below does not necessarily mean that Metztlitlaca and the foreign nation are public about their relationship, and/or that the population of the foreign nation or Metztlitlaca perceive the other as a friendly nation or ally (think the USA and Saudi Arabia). Most of Metztlitlaca's friendships are based on economics rather then any cultural or historic connections outside of Shffahkia or LAANN states. All letters not to a specific embassy should be directed to the Overseer Priestess of Metztlican Foreign Affairs, Kwājauh Kh. Map of Metztlitlalio foreign relationships with other nation states. 2. Ah, my bad, I was basing my critique off the original post you made on the discord regarding central Alharu, so I assumed it would of been the same case on this draft as well. Ignore what I said about distance if that is the case, although I was certainly intrigued when you mentioned central Alharu in your original post.
  3. I should first state that I don't think this idea is bad - far from it - but I do have several issues. One of my issues is that there is no real substance to what you're stating. With so many blanks and unknowns it feels like a half-written job. I understand that this was done because your initial plan was to use Limonaia, it wouldn't fit with the canon he had established, but I feel as though you should've tried to reach out to people first before going head first with a nation you may not know too much about. Secondly, the Great Alharun War (temp name) was in the 70s, so the timelines wouldn't match if you wanted them to co-exist. A third issue is that your nation is on the southern half of Aurelia, and the closest piece of the Alharun desert is over 15,000 km way by sea. Or over 7,000 km by air. I will ignore the fact you're not technically on the map yet, as O has done everything to make it canon but publish an updated map. I don't see how it is feasible for your country in the 90s to be able to consistently fly/sail to the Alharun deserts as well as fight a terrorist organisation. I feel like a more obvious one would be the desert right beside you in south-western Aurelia. The only thing there is Rihan's corpse which isn't being used for anything as far as I'm aware. Less of an issue and more of an observation, if you want your terrorist organisation to have a specific ideology to hide behind, Continentalism might work with their whole anti-imperialist identity as it's main goal is to be a force to counteract the growing neo-colonialism and imperialism of Argis and Europan nations into Alharu and Aurelia. To be honest, my biggest issue with this is that you feel as though you need to repeat your nation's actions from a previous group here. Why not experiment with new alternatives you never could in your old region? Or a new pathway to the same results if you require them to have the same conclusion. Just my own thoughts though.
  4. Teopac of History: The Raptor's Claws and the Lion's Jaws [1200 - 1860] Metztlitlaca is relatively unknown to the modern world. The only countries that ever give the fledgling nation any form of attention are those who had invested into the nation in its younger years. Seylos with it's port city of Kaseka; Fulgistan and Oyus with the League of Alharun and Aurelian Native Nations; Eulycea due to centuries of rivalry and conflicts. This wasn't always the case, there once was a time in Metztlican history where a predecessor nation to Metztlitlaca was one of the many major regional powers of its day. This golden era for southern Palu was under the banners of the Crescent Empire. The Crescent Empire called itself Īnetztli Tìkuo in the Old Metztlica dialect of Naxua, however it is often called Inetztlīk in the Modern Metaztlitlaca Dialect. It ruled it's territories from 1202 AD up until 1801 AD, spanning much of the southern Palu peninsula and into eastern Mesothalassa. Map of Geographic Locations Formation of the Crescent Empire: 1178 - 1202 AD The Crescent Empire was not pre-ordained nation that naturally rose up from its surroundings. It was a messy and complicated affair. Before the Crescent Empire there were thirty separate monarch states across modern day Metztlitlaca, each one vying for power and dominance over history. In the late 12th Century, the strongman of southern Palu were the Tepanizo. Found in western modern Metztlitlaca, the Tepanizo were fractured between 3 multicultural hegemonic monarch states with the largest, Kotlaxomizo, dominating the Metztlica ethnic group which at the time was only two thirds its modern geographic size. The reigning Archpriest - the leader of the religion of the Azlo people - had died several years ago and priesthood was in the midst of deciding his successor. The Kotlaxomizo had bribed or threatened any nations who could of been a threat to them from sending any of their own aristocracy to be possibly ordained as Archpriest. Instead Kotlaxomizo's monarch had his son and several of his vassal's send their sons and daughters to the Priesthood, threatening any Metztlica tribe who dared try to win the Archpriest title with burning down their villages. This was by Priesthood law considered illegal, but with no powerful nation to back them like in previous centuries they went along with it. One tribe however did not get the threat as the messenger had died on the way to them. The Atlahuica, the people of the valleys, were unaware of the scheme the Kotlaxomizo had planted and had sent their best to the contests. The title of Archpriest was earned by being the one to pass the numerous endurance, physical, and intellectual tests with the most success. Those sent must be between the ages of 15 and 19. The archpriest title cannot be worn by a head monarch of a nation, and thus monarch states tend to send high standing aristocrats from their capitals. Tribes did not have aristocracies, therefore most of the Metztlica tribes the Kotlaxomizo ordered to partake sent their most average boys and girls. The candidate the Atlahuica sent was nineteen year old Tapilchuacotl, Tapilchuacotl was born prematurely and missing his left arm from below the elbow so by all accounts and logic should of died, but he somehow persisted. Unable to use the bow and arrow he became proficient at the atlatl, also known as the spear-thrower. His skill was refined to a degree no one his age from his or the neighbouring tribes could match, with only the oldest and most experienced spear-throwers able to hit as consistently as he could. The aristocratic boy was not athletic nor proficient with tools and by the end of the tests had trailed behind Tapil. The Priesthood ordained Tapilchuacotl the new Archpriest. The Kotlaxomizo were furious at the Atlahuica and within weeks had burned down their villages and taken half of the village population to be killed at the Kotlaxomizo capital's temples. The other half fled to neighbouring tribe villages who pitied the Atlahuica. For over half a decade, the Priesthood and the Atlahuica were forming a coalition of Metztlica and other suppressed ethnic groups to overthrow the Kotlaxomizo monarch state. The resulting civil war took a little over a decade, resulting in the dissolution of the Kotlaxomizo monarch state. With the Kotlaxomizo monarch state dissolved, there was no clear successor, and the region would of collapsed back into anarchy as it had done every time a period of subjugation and hegemony ended, but Tapilchuacotl not wishing to further the cycle of violence instead come up with a new solution; a unified Metztlica state. Instead of a single tribe controlling others, all tribes of the Metztlica people would be equals. The Crescent Empire was officially established in 1202 AD with the unifying of the Metztlica tribes through diplomacy, peace-making, and compromises. Tapilchuacotl was ordained the Monarch of Monarchs, only the third individual in Azlo history to be officially crowned the title and the first to both hold the title of Monarch of Monarchs and also to be an Archpriest. Expansion and Wars of the Sun and Moon: 1219 - 1400 AD Tapilchuacotl died in 1219 AD, the last thing he did was merge the role of Monarch of Monarchs and the role of Archpriest into a single title and role. The merged title remained as Archpriest, but it meant that those who held the title had both religious power but also political power. Since the official formation of the Crescent Empire in 1202, Tapilchuacotl never warred any other nation state except in defending the empire from tribal incursions. Tapil's successor was not like that. His successor, Iztacoa II, was named after the legendary White Serpent monarch of the far western Azlo groups. As the grandson of Tapil, many were struck by the stubbornness and ambition of the young Archpriest who made it his life's goal to form the largest Azlo empire in history. By 1240, the Crescent Empire had begun to draw the attention of the much larger Tihuanaco Empire across the Tapatepetli mountains which began the century and a half long Wars of the Sun and Moon, which lasted from 1245 AD - 1395 AD, when influence from the Yellow Empire began to eventually collapse of the Tihuanaco Empire. Most of the conflict in the Wars of the Sun and Moon were within the great valley systems of the Tapatepetli mountains and at the neck of the Palu Peninsula where in joined to Mesothalassa proper. Despite both being large nations, neither side had the technology nor might to fully cross the mountains or make the long trek around them to conquer or subjugate the other. When the Yellow Empire finally arrived and brought instability to Tihuanaco, the Crescent Empire offered itself as a potential ally for the much larger Yellow Empire and great networks of trade were formed by the start of the 15th century. Borders of the Crescent Empire in 1400 AD. Dark Green is where the Metztlica are the majority ethnicity. The Golden Years: 1400 - 1600 AD From the 15th to 17th centuries, the Crescent Empire was in it's golden age of expansions, commerce, and culture. It's trade of spices and precious jewels and pottery to the Yellow Empire and to other merchants made the coastal cities fabulously wealthy along with the capital of Xinatlahuimiz (modern day Tekaken). The empire, unlike those of Europa or Argis, was a hegemonic empire with vassal states making up much of the empire's territory. Only the core majority-Metztlica populated areas were under the direct rule of the Archpriest, along with the coastal cities and ports, resulting in the empire being rather decentralised compared to the Yellow Empire or imperial Europa-Argis. Each vassal had to send an appropriately large offering to the capital each year or be threatened with destruction. As the empire grew, larger and larger groups of Metztlica migrated across the empire to economic hotspots. These new majority-Metztlica exclaves would then be promoted from vassals to core territories of the empire. By 1585, the empire had reach it's greatest extent. Borders of the Crescent Empire in from 1585 - 1690 AD. Dark Green are the majority-Metztlica core territories. The Falling Years: 1600 - 1800 AD Every empire collapse, the the Crescent Empire's collapse was a slow and gruelling one. The over bloated beaurocracy due to so many vassal states and the gradual movement towards decadence meant that the government often lagged behind on critical information, making the one unstoppable Crescent Army the laughing stock of the region. This first became apparent when Salvian crusaders attempted a takeover of the empire to convert it to Christianity - as they had done to their northern neighbour not too long ago. The Crescent Empire should of been able to push them back to sea almost immediately, but it took over fifty years to resist and forcefully expel the crusaders in 1710. This dramatic failure weakened the credibility of the government significantly and fringe vassal states began to break away - most not even threatened with retribution for their treason - and the government slowly fell to in-fighting. There were numerous attempts as reforms, but most were pushed back by the Priesthood or the government. By the end of the 18th century, the empire was only two thirds its size shown above. In 1798, the growing Shffahkia empire swooped into the decaying corpse of the Crescent Empire and tore it to shreds, unceremoniously annexing it as Shffahkia's first overseas non-island colony. The Territory of Mezzaluna: 1800 - 1850 AD From 1800 AD to 1850 AD, the Shffahkian Empire ruled the region corresponding to modern day Metztlitlaca, named the Territory of Mezzaluna. Regions of the old empire that were not directly annexed soon went off on their own paths, most falling to strife and anarchism. The main use of the colony was for crop plantations in the western savanna - where many Shffahkians settled - and for the exportation of precious gems and metals from the interior. Christianity soon spread from Shffahkia into Mezzaluna, joining up with those who were already converted by the Salvian crusaders and converting much of the coast. Even in modern times, the nation of Metztlitlaca is divided by a Catholic coastline and a Huecatoc (native faith) interior. The eastern jungle fringes were severely deforested and used for more intensive crops such as cotton, with slavery often practised in the area. This relationship of exploitation continued up until Marianne the First would take the throne in Shffahkia. The Premier, Jean-Patrique Lecerf, and the majority of senators back in the empire's capital did not want a woman on the throne especially when they were dealing with the consequences of a ill-advised war elsewhere in Aurelia. As a result, the Senate abolished the monarchy declaring the beginning of the First Shffahko-Republic on November 15, 1848, with Jean-Patrique Lecerf as its first president ending the Shffahkian Empire. This resulted in Marianne I at the age of 24 along with numerous aristocrats fleeing to Mezzaluna to establish a monarchy in exile. Flag of the Mezzaluna Territory Territory of Mezzaluna by 1850. Formation of the Crescent Kingdom and Wars of Independence: 1851 - 1873 Marianne Eugène de Caldofondo-Bouvèron and the aristocrats that followed established the Crescent Kingdom of Shffahkia in 1851. Marianne was never officially crowned queen, as she still believed she was the rightful ruler of Shffahkia and that taking a second crown would be a sign of surrender. From 1852 to 1873 numerous wars were fought between the First Shffahko Republic and the Crescent Kingdom of Shffahkia with both sides as aggressors. In 1872 Marianne I died from malaria at the age of 46, leaving the throne to her son Armand Eugène de Caldofondo-Bouvèron who was 21. Armand I soon began to broker a peace between the Crescent Kingdom of Shffahkia and the First Shffahko-Republic. The Shffahko-Republic and the Crescent Kingdom of Shffahkia both agreed to recognise each other's independence and to not place claims onto one another's land or governments, as well as the Crescent Kingdom of Shffahkia reducing its name to just the Crescent Kingdom. Armand I throughout his time on the throne never fought a war against another nation and was soon named Armand the Peaceful. In 1909 Armand and the Crescent government banned the purchasing and selling of individuals of any race or gender, he died a year later in 1910. In 2010, a hundred years after his death, one of the major coastal cities of Metztlitlaca renamed itself to Xamant - City of Armand - in recognition of his duty to the people of the Crescent Kingdom no matter their race or gender. Armand's successor was his son - Armand II - who's mother was an ex-aristocratic Tlaxcalixe (Azlo) lady. Armand II and his successors there-after were as equally despotic as Marianne or had no care to look after the kingdom, eventually leading to it's downfall...
  5. I only have a couple of concerns; due to Fearannteth bordering Metztlitlaca, I am rather anxious about Fearannteth's modern history and how it plays out as it would directly affect my own country. There is also the concern of Oyus' current culture and whether it is still compatible with LAANN's ideological agenda (not a threat, don't worry) as well as Fearannteth's culture, their proximity means some of their own customs may bleed into my own country and especially so if Fearannteth is more developed economically/technologically then Metztli. So before I can give two thumbs up with confidence, I personally would like to see something about Fearannteth's culture and it's current economy/technology at the very least. (Also that ethnic map is inaccurate)
  6. My only "issues" would be that Cristina did it's colonisation of Alharu/Argis in the 1480-1510. I don't necessarily know where Ruthenia would be as Ceris (island west of Seylos) is already developed lore-wise (check "Doom of Ceris"). Other then that I don't see too many other issues, although you will need to speak to Seylos (and possibly Limonaia(?)).
  7. Teopac of Finance: The Metals of Azlo Skulls Aluminium, an often forgotten yet important metal for the modern era. From phone cases to air planes to weapons of war, the light yet durable metal has found it’s way into almost every sector of the modern economy. However, not many people know where it comes from. “From the ground!” Metztlican CEOs say, with a cheeky smile and dazzling white teeth. “Processed through electrolysis!” Metztlican scientists say, wearing their platinum watches and golden rings. “Sourced from the mountains!” Ambassadors say, wearing freshly cleaned suits. In truth, the Aluminium sector of Metztlitlaca is possibly one of the worst cases of human rights abuse in the region as forced prison labour is most often used, imported criminals charged with Second and First Case Class crimes (robbery, murder, advocation of violence, etc.) from southern calpuyauh and dominions. Although physical punishments are not (legally) used, the death rate within the mines is appallingly high at 917.6 per 100,000 per year (~0.92%) which is often chalked up to poor management and negligence. Many of the more minor mining accidents that do occur, however, are covered up so the number itself may be significantly more or less then what is known. The Aluminium Sector – along with other low density metal mining and extraction sectors – is considered one of if not the most corrupt in all of Metztlitlaca and often takes bribes from international and intranational individuals and companies. High concentrated deposits of Aluminium and Titanium were only first discovered in Metztlitlaca in 1998 within the Tapatepetli Mountains and made full use of in the mid 00s, but since then has grown to become a powerful player in the trade and processing of Aluminium and other low-density metals such as Titanium and Magnesium. Currently Metztlitlaca controls 40% of Aluminium trade, producing 14.28 Million Metric Tons (MMT) of Aluminium annually, out of the global 35.69 MMT. Most of Metztlican Aluminium is mined from Bauxite in the eastern half of the Tapatepetli Mountains in the Metztlican and Acolican Dominions and then sound southwards to be processed in what Metztlicans nickname “Xinizjixomiz” aka “Cities of Metals” as the towns who take in Aluminium, Titanium, and Magnesium from the mountains to be processed often have their entire local economies related to and dependant on the processing plants. Similarly, Metztlitlaca controls ~65% of the Magnesium trade and 10% of the Titanium trade. Most of Metztlitlaca uses the Bayer Process for processing Bauxite into Aluminium. The bauxite is blended and ground down into a uniform powder and then mixed with sodium hydroxide at a high temperature. The mixture slurry is then treated through a vessel at high pressure, which dissolves the aluminium hydroxide product in bauxite. After this, the leftover slurry is at a higher temperature then its boiling point, resulting in a gas. It is then cooled by removing the steam as the pressure of the vessel is reduced. The bauxite residue is separated from the solution and discarded. The solution, free of solids, is seeded with crystals of aluminium hydroxide; this causes said aluminium hydroxide to decompose into aluminium hydroxide. After half of aluminium has precipitated, the mixture is sent to classifiers. Small crystals of aluminium hydroxide are collected to serve as seeding agents; coarse particles are converted to aluminium oxide by heating; excess solution is removed by evaporation, purified, and recycled. Titanium extraction uses the Kroll Process with Titanium TetraChloride and Magnesium the Silicothermic Reduction Pidgeon Process using Silicon and Magnesium Oxide. Your average Acolican Metljix Aluminium Processing Plant at the coastline near Seylosian Kaseka. Unlike many of the other sectors of the Metztlican economy, the mining industry is open up to international companies with relatively lax restrictions. Most international companies are focused on the processing of aluminium and/or cheap manufacturing of goods. In total 65 of the Wurld’s 105 Aluminium Processing Plants (APPs) are found in Metztlitlaca (not counting recycling plants). Metztlican Companies own 25 of the APPs split between Ālomino (11) and Metljix (14). Fulgistan, a very close trading partner of Metztlitlaca, has 15 APPs controlled by their state companies. Numerous Limonaian companies hold 9 APPs with Sunset Sea Island’s Sunset Aluminium Group Co. maintaining all 6 of the SSI aluminium plants. [Seylosian Company] controls 4. Similarly the Kaimanu Mining Company, with it’s headquarters in Salvia, own 4. The Tagmatine company of Arhomaniki-Oureintiniki Exoryxi Alouminiou (AOEA) owns two processing plants near the Acolica coast. Ālomino sells aluminium at $2,200 per metric ton (PMT) to foreign nations. Metljix sells at $2,100 per metric ton (PMT) also to foreign nations. Companies that work inside of Metztlitlalio have to provide a set profit for Metztlitlaca dependant on current economic treaties, resulting in Metljix consistently providing the cheapest aluminium exports out of the country. Countries who own processing plants in Metztlitlaca must pay a fixed profit share per metric ton (FPSPMT). Limonaia-based companies ● $400 FPSPMT LAANN-based companies (based in the Alharu Native Nations Aluminium Agreement (ANNAA)) ● $500 FPSPMT Seylosian-based companies (based in the Kaseka 2014 Non-ferrous Metals Agreement) ● $800 FPSPMT SSI-based companies ● $900 FPSPMT Salvian-based companies ● $1,000 FPSPMT Tasgmatium-based companies ● $1,000 FPSPMT Titaniometl sells Titanium at $11,000 PMT to foreign nations. The titanium industry within Metztlitlaca is far less competitive with fewer companies – most of which are Metztlican or LAANN based – and not as large as the aluminium industry. One major non-LAANN foreign company in the titanium sector is Kaimanu Mining Company of Salvia, which holds significant amounts of shares in numerous titanium plants and even owns two processing plants in the Tapelt Dominion. Kaimanu Titanium Plant on the coast of the Tapelt Dominion, near the Yatotla Dominion border. All-in-all, the low-density metals industry of Metztlitlaca fuels it’s economy towards industrialisation and eventual modernisation but at the same time leaves piles of skulls on it’s tracks. The CEOs, Scientists, and Ambassadors consider it a necessary evil of Metztlitlaca, and perhaps it is, perhaps it isn’t. Only the future knows, and the future does not say. But until then, the metals that produce Azlo skulls will continue to be wrought from the ground and shovled into the growing economic machine of south Palu...
  8. League of Alharu and Aurelian Native Nations (For real this time) Basics The League of Alharu and Aurelia Native Nations (Naxua: Lekh Otepanyauh a'Icohuic Natif Kowiamiz) (Huang: 安路藕李本土国家联盟), known more commonly by it’s acronym of LAANN (said as LAN) or simply ‘The League’. The League has 5 members; @Fulgistan, @Metztlitlaca, @Oyus, @Yeosan, and @Heiheguo, with 7 observer nations: Eulycea, Batengdei, Andalla, Giokto, Shffahkia, Esonice, and Acadia. The main goal of LAANN is as an economic-defence bloc between nations with a large minority or majority native Alharun and/or native Aurelian ethnicity(s) and to minimise economic and/or hostile intervention of Europan and Argic nations. These goals are achieved through a list of numerous contracts and treaties as well as numerous international overseer departments. The largest of these departments is the Department of Trade and Tariffs, Department of Internal Intelligence Services, and the Continental Defence Council. All legislature and laws provided by the departments must be voted on by the representatives of each nation. Each nation has a certain number of representatives dependant on population size who must come to a single agreement on whether to pass or block a new piece of legislature. Once all five blocks of representatives have come to their agreements, those five blocks vote as five distinct entities for the legislature to be passed or blocked. Spectator nations are given representatives but hold only an advisory role with no power to affect the five main blocks. --- Fulgistan - 15 representatives Metztlitlaca - 11 representatives Yeosan - 9 representatives Oyus - 7 representatives Heiheguo - 5 representatives --- LAANN was founded in 1981 as a response to growing globalist and historic exploitation of the native Alharun and Aurelians. The formation of LAANN came hand in hand with a growing rise of Pan-nationalism against nations with descendants from Argis or Europa. This ideology is often called Continentalism within the LAANN nations. Initially there were only three nations – Oyus, Fulgistan, and Metztlitlaca – who signed the League Proclamations (Treaties that are require to be signed to be a full member of LAANN). In 1989 Yeosan signed the League Proclamations and joined LAANN. Heiheguo joining in 2012 after being in observer status for 21 years due to conflicting interests within the League Proclamations and the Heiheguo government. The logo of The League was a committee design in 1986 and was originally a Penrose Triangle with red, green, and blue to represent Fulgistan (red), Metztlitlaca (green), and Oyus (blue) interconnected in a ring of unity. When Yeosan joined in 1989 the logo was changed to a Penrose Square with yellow, and changed to a Penrose Pentagon in 2012 adding white for Heiheguo. History of Continentalism Fulgistan The political philosophy of Continentalism has its origins in the politics of the late-19th century Five-Coloured Empire, whose first ruler Emperor Fengxing promoted "harmony amongst the 5 races" embodied in the nation's iconic five-coloured flag, symbolizing the unity of the empire's people under one ruler. The notion of a shared interest and common origin among native peoples was further developed by Wang Xiteng in his 1898 essay "The People of the Southern Kingdoms“. Wang was a noted man of letters in his native Fulgistan, and his influence as a member of the Imperial Yuan ensured that his ideas penetrated many levels of society, including to the emperor himself. In 1899, Emperor Fengxing officially permitted colonials, as well as the Bozan, to join the Imperial Yuan, and to serve in the highest offices of government on an equal basis to the ruling Huang. It was in this way that the emergent philosophy of continentalism was widely disseminated amongst the educated and political classes of the Empire. Upon the Empire's demise in 1929, Continentalism had taken a strong hold among the revolutionaries, particularly those in the republican faction, who formed the Continentalist Union Party in 1931. Today, the CUP exists only as a minor subordinate branch of the Fulgistani Communist Party, but Continentalism itself has waxed and waned within the nation. Jian Bozan was a proponent of the ideology in his days as an Army colonel, but felt later on that the ideas of Continentalism were incompatible with the Communist view of society he had since adopted. Continentalism fell by the wayside in Fulgistan until its large resurgence in the late 1960s, brought on by a new, more open atmosphere of political discussion, the rise of fascism and neocolonialism in Alharu, and the arrival of Faramanian intellectuals and politicians in Bogd Gioro, almost all of whom remained in the country. Metztlitlaca The Crescent Empire was a largely isolationist state, rarely trading with Europan and Argis nations as they lacked things that the empire desired – outside of firearms of course – and as such had few ties with the outside world. One of those ties, however, was with the Yellow Empire. The Crescent Empire saw the Yellow Empire as an equal in trade, commerce, and militarism as it had spices and resources the empire craved along with the navy to back up it’s exports, proving so in the Yellow Empire subjegation of the Tihuanaco Empire (a long standing rival to the Azlo people). This is considered by historians to be the starting point of the long standing positive relationship modern day between Fulgistan and Metztlitlaca. With the Limonaian conquest of the Crescent Empire, the Azlo people were forced into the increasingly interconnected wurld. With no independent homeland to look for guidance, they turned to next best thing; the Five Coloured Empire – a successor to the Yellow Empire. Wang Xiteng’s “The People of the Southern Kingdoms” and similar essays made their way into the Limonaian colony (mostly illegally) via Huang slaves and imported scholars. From there the ideology of Xiteng were merged with Azlo cultural beliefs to form a distinct Azlo-Huang brotherhood ideology. Said ideology (known as “Xiteotoc” or “Xitenism” in Metztlitlaca) was a major factor in the formation of the Hong ethnicity, as the Chalica aided Huang slaves in escaping from Limonaian plantations and mines as part of the Xiteotoc ideology of brotherhood and unity, which resulting in the two ethnic groups intermarrying and partially merging to form the Hong. The Chalica still exist to this day as a distinct ethnic group in the northern third of the Nanhong Dominion of Metztlitlaca, but largely practise Islam and often have Huang physical and cultural traits. The Unified Republic of Palu and then the South Palu Confederation based their socialist ideology off that of the Worker’s Republic of Fulgistan – who helped them gain their independence – along with Xitenism as a core belief within the socialist Azlo ideology. Xitenism and socialism continued further as guerrilla fighters in Mezzalunia in the Great Alharun War combatted against fascist Limonaia. The eventual nation of Metztlitlaca that arose from the war was initially dominated by the Xiteotoc National Party who proposed the formation of LAANN in 1981. Oyus The Matriarchical islands of Oyus, to some an island paradise, to others a tax-free haven. To LAANN however, Oyus is an example of a nation who was able to initially thwart the imperial hands of Marenesia and Europa with it’s successful defence against Salvia from the 1570s to 1589 and to establish native rule. This does not mean though that Oyus was completely independent, as Aromani languages and migrants seeped into the nation over the years – resulting in ideological backlash by the natives and a push towards further cooperation with non-Aromani nations such as Fulgistan and Metztlitlaca. Although these ideological battles between the natives and migrants have been largely put aside, Oyus is still seen as a friend and ally by their partners over seas on the mainland of Alharu. The headquarters for many of the LAANN departments and the LAANN Head Office are located in Yulaa, the capital of Oyus. Departments The Department of Trade and Tariffs (also known as the DTT) ensures free and equal trade between LAANN nations. Tariffs are used against non-LAANN members to encourage trade with one another rather then with potential advisories. However, spectator nations to LAANN are often excluded from many of the tariffs. The use of tariffs have not been without controversy, however, as many have pointed out to higher prices of certain goods and services due to lessened competition from abroad or just that tariffs artificially inflate prices. Most of the Department of Trade and Tarriffs’ legislature must be voted by the representatives of all five members with at least four members voting for it to be passed before it is implemented into all five nations. The Department of Internal Intelligence Services (DIIS) is a mutual transdomestic intelligence agency. In every country that has opted into the Extended DIIS Protocol, the DIIS functions as an attaché to national law enforcement, and although officers are usually drawn in from that country's citizens, the DIIS officers are loyal to LAANN Judicial Body and have authority to follow normal arrest procedure for League-level crimes. If a member has not opted into the E-DIIS-P, the DIIS acts as an overseer and provides help in gathering evidence and data to aid criminal cases. Yeosan and Heiheguo have not yet opted into E-DIIS-P. DIIS is the most controversial of the departments as it can often be seen as intrusive and as an opening for potential exploitation by outsiders. As such, all five members must agree together on any modifications to the DIIS regulations and Metztlitlaca, Fulgistan, and Oyus must all agree to any modifications to E-DIIS-P regulations. The last of the largest departments is the Continental Defence Council. The CDC acts as a unifying military standards and coordination body for the military’s of all LAANN nations. The use of the CDC is primarily for combat training, military equipment shipping and inspections, coalition combat*, and an intermediate body for the discussion of military bases. *Coalition combat will be restricted and not be used until the LAANN establishment historic thread is completed, or if all nations involved in a particular RP thread agree to it’s usage. Present Times The five nations of LAANN may not be strongest or most politically dominant (outside of Fulgistan), but their collective interests binds them in economic and political partnerships and friendships. It also helps to have similarly corrupt, authoritarian or blind-eye nations as your allies – power keeps the powerful stable, after all… Currently LAANN’s main interests are in cultural exchange programs such as museum/historic artefacts being traded to one another’s major cultural capitals to further public opinions of one another via education; the implementation of Huang into the other LAANN nation’s curriculums; and encouragement of tourism between one another through VISA-free policies. LAANN is currently in the midst of reintroducing the near-extinct Azlo writing system, which was almost entirely replaced with the Aromani Alphabet by Limonaian colonists. The other main interest of LAANN is economic development, aiding each other in industrialisation and modernisation through investments and relief aid in the event of disasters. 9. Climate Gang Update 3: 2 Fast 2 Furious So I'd like the begin this will an apology for lack of updates from the group. Many of us have been busy irl and unable to contribute to the project. Hopefully in the near future we can get back on our feet. There were only four people who actually did the questionnaire, so the QnA for this update will be small, along with changes made. Firstly I would like to introduce map V3.0 and all the changes done to it from V2.3. I should also say the vote on Antargis is over, with just under 74% voting in favour of the new design over the old. -Fjallshima and Esonice were reverted to their original spots, don't know why they were changed - most likely an error on our part. -Inland seas added back to Alharu, they were always returning but temporarily removed to help with modifying terrain. We considered changing them to align more closely with topography shown in Version 1 but the cost-benefits would be minimal. -An island was moved to aid Little Adapty with the bridge from Europa to Argis. (From Iceland to Greenland is 1179 km.) -A new inland sea was added to Europe at the request of @Gallambria for the second nation he is working on (Bashan) which defines the southern border of Bashan (green) and the northern border of the NPC Qubdi (red). QnA time! - The first question was an actual question asked, the ones after are to help with clarification. "[Regarding Antargis] Is it all coastline? Or is pack ice included?" The current Antargis continent is just the landmass until a climate map is resolved. If you require ice shelves for something, they are most likely to form in the gulfs and bays within Antargis. "Who has the final decision on my country's climate?" You! If you don't like any of the proposed climates for your nation and/or you wish to remain with your current climate, that is 100% okay and the end product climate map will accommodate for that whether it's realistic or not. Our goal isn't to force changes upon people but to aid in standardising the current maps and adding more realism when possible to make things less confusing for newer members. The latter may not be obvious now but our end product maps will be designed in such a way as to be easily readable and understood to those who don't know much about the subject of climates / continental shelves / etc. "I still don't like the new Antargis! My science base will have to move now!" Although no one has stated this outright, the next couple days will be the last time to say anything related to your positions on Antargis. If you feel strongly against the new Antargis due to your plans to set up a Military or Scientific base on Antargis (or planning to) in a specific location, we will happily stitch the old part of the coastline your military base was/will be on to the new map in as close to it's original location as possible. As stated above our goal isn't to force changes which is why this option is open. But you *will* need to tell us soon as this is the final draft (unless someone asks for an island / remove an island / ask for changes) that will be shown to the public until we have drafts for climates and the like ready.
  10. The Vocal Voice: Cartel Bust by Bust of Archpriestess' Bust! The Cartel plague that likes to show up it's head every now and again has come out wearing clown make-up as a gang part of the Wāxicayauh Cartel up in the peaks of Acolica had their main hide out raided by armed police with all members inside successfully arrested. How? Because one of the low level grunts decided to steal a statue. Last week, high up in the Tapatepetlis, a temple called Zin O'atlahuimiz hosted a regionally important jade stylised sculpture of the historic and only ever Archpriestess of Metztlitlaca (except for the current Archpriestess of Metztlica, Letzitlioho, of course!) Moyoluani. No one wants to admit it but like the lady of power herself, the personal sculptress of the first Archpriestess certainly was captivated by the feminine form! The statue was prominently the historic Archpriestess' chest, arms, and head. Such statues of only sections of a person are hard to come by nowadays after the had Azlo finally made their three hundred year long journey down to Palu and killed off the old inhabitants. No need for small statues when you have half a peninsula The quaint village of Onoyoluan - where the temple can be found - was shaken to it's core last Tuesday after a ruthless gang stormed Zin O'atlahuimiz and stole several priceless artefacts - one of which was the Moyoluani statue. Adding another priceless historic depiction of an Archpriest to the long list of stolen goods - most of them by Yatōtlaca[1]. This hasn't been the first encounter with gangs in Onoyoluan as cartel activity is high in the region where hard illegal drugs are often created or grown, but the residence of Onoyoluan's most recent encounter have set those living there down a new course; revenge. Three days later, come in the Onoyoluan police force, who get a tip from an anonymous civilian who saw a young Xochimican man in his mid twenties carrying something suspiciously bust-shaped wrapped in a white plastic bag. The civilian stated they saw the shady looking man enter an old house on the outskirts of the village which previously has been suspected of illegal activity in the past but was otherwise suspiciously empty. The brave police men and police women stormed the residence after another man had been seen entering the house from an old beaten car. The police were able to successfully arrest fifteen people within the premises and two other men who were foolishly coming down towards the house in an old Yatotlacan car with several of the stolen art pieces from the temple in the trunk. Deep within the house and hidden under a dirty white plastic tarp was the statue along with several packages of cocaine. It is unknown who the packages were for but the locals suspect our neighbours in the far north have been busy! The statue was thankfully recovered safe and sound along with the stolen goods from the temple. Within the house and by accounts from the gang members, it was revealed that the gang worked for the infamous Wāxicayauh Cartel. So far all of those within the household and the two gang members in the car are held in the local city's prison and going on trial. [1] - Yatōtlaca, a common nickname for Limonaia
  11. Climate Gang Update 2: Island Boogaloo NOTE: Everything in this post is NOT FINAL. It is meant to be discussed and changed, nothing here is finalised. NOTE 2: If you are involved in the 3rd Antargic Council Meeting, read the paragraph below in red. Of the five (four) people who filled out the Eurth Map Revisions Feedback Form, it was primarily split between an update every week or every two weeks - so we will try to push out one of these every 1-2 weeks depending on how much we have done. Currently we are on Draft V2.3 taking on feedback and criticism by those who filled out the form, replied to this thread, or had asked in direct messages to Climate Group members. As done before we will split up each change into it's own categories; this time they are "Created" "Changed/Moved" and "Sunken/Removed". Below are two maps; one of all changes and one that is a generic blank map of Eurth. It should also be stated the way we conduct ourselves has also changed with a new 3-step minmum approval policy. Before any new changes can be added onto a new version of the map they must first be approved within the Climate Group private chat, then brought to those who are directly affected by the changes for confirmation/edits/declination. If those who are affected confirm the new changes and/or the changes are changed to better suit the those affected, the new compromised version is then returned back to the CG group for one final confirmation. This ensures maximum clarity and communication within the group, although does slow down time between versions. Green - Created Red - Changed and/or Moved Blue - Sunken and/or Removed Created Most new land created was primarily near the equator and near the Adisi Ocean. The @Oyus island chain was completely reworked with more uniquely designed islands and with said islands at a further distance from Oyus. Several smaller islands were also placed in the Adisi ocean for possible expansion plans for those who border the Adisi Ocean. @Yeosan was contacted about the new islands and he was positive with the changes. From what was said in the Eurth Map Revisions Feedback Form and in the Discord, the Manamana Isthmus change was rather controversial with an equal split between preferring the new Manamana Isthmus and the old Manamana Isthmus. As such we've decided to compromise on the situation by increasing the width of the isthmus to an average width between the original and Version 1. White - Version 1 Light Green - Version 2.3 Dark Green - Initial Thickness Like last draft, there will be a Feedback Form after a couple days, with a couple questions regarding the Manamana Isthmus. Changed and/or Moved As per expected, there are several islands that have been moved around as per request/decision making. Several islands were moved from the initial Oyus island chain into the Adisi Ocean as requested to allow for more varied expansion by those surrounding the ocean or had historically owned territory in the region. Most likely this will affect @Gallambria, @Oyus, and @Limonaia the most although said affect might be minimal/pre-expected. An island that is currently controlled by the now-inactive @Adaptus (Last online 18th May, 2019) was requested to be moved towards the middle of Occident Europa and Eastern Argis by @Tagmatium Rules as part of the recent Christian Lore Task Force (#bless)'s attempts at unifying the lore around Christianity on Eurth. The island's historic (new) placement would allow for ships from the Occident to reach Argis far earlier then in real life. The closest distance from Occident to Little Adapty (That's what I'm calling the island until someone corrects me) is 826 miles (1,330km). And the closest distance from Little Adapty to Argis is 491 miles (789km) if we allow for the usage of minor islands near the larger landmasses. A direct route from Little Adapty to Argis is 610 miles (981km) Compared to the initial jump from Europa to Little Atapty of 451 miles (726km) and then from Little Atapty to Argis of 989 Miles (1,592km). Both versions equal 2288km, but the newer version reduces the ranges and allows for more realistic travel times by boat. For an example, a straight line from Iceland to Greenland is 733 miles (1179km). This still puts at least one of the journeys on either version outside that limit, but i'll leave the Christian Lore Task Force (#bless) to figure that out. Either to continue to adjust the location of the island or to add another island as part of a chain. Below is where I would personally suggest an island* *Has not been reviewed by the GC nor CLTF Removed or Sunken Only several locations have been removed as this is the most controversial part of any design update. The least controversial will be the removal of "Generic_Island_01" from Oyus' island chain and instead replaced with the far more interesting island south of Yeosan's island. Another island removed is in the far north near Argis, which would be very unlikely to ever see action and reduces the overall emptiness of the map. It's location means it would most likely just be apart of the greater North Pole ice sheets. Below is a picture of a minor change to Argis as requested by @Prymont to allow for his canal to be more realistic (i.e. - cheaper). Contact of @North Dniester through Discord was unsuccessful so I could not ask his permission/opinion on the matter. The extended Canamo Sea follows his northern border with no reduction to his nation's size. Antargis' Aurelia-centred peninsula has been reduced in it's height to allow for it's ocean currents and that of Aurelia to remain distinct with only a small amount of circulation between them. This means that Antargis' ocean currents remained locked to it's continent primarily and reinforces the colder temperatures - similar to the real life Antarctica - keeping it uninhabitable. On the topic of Antargis... Antargis Appeal - Important! We required those who's RPs are tied with Antargis to provide feedback on the new continent. So far we have had zero responses and yet those involved who are willing to voice their opinions call us out on bad communication. As such I am stating this is our final draft on Antargis unless someone from the 3rd Antargic Council Meeting states they are unhappy with the changes and provides (constructive) criticism or requests for the changes to be reverted. We are happy to revert any changes any members feel are too intrusive or a worse then their initial versions. But we cannot *know* if people feel as though these changes are for the worse if they refuse to provide us with complaints or criticism. We were initially planning to [@] all members involved in the 3rd Antargis Council Meeting but we decided against doing so. We do not wish to cause a confrontation between members, but we cannot continue to let this drag us without a known conclusion. This decision was agreed upon by Orioni. Other Changes The war for what to call the tectonic plate to the east of the Marenesia Plate continues to rage on. "Oceanesia" is the current working title, but if anyone has an idea for a better name or prefers a name from above please state so in a reply on either here or on the Discord. After talking to Oyus we came to agree to leave the tectonic boundary as is, same with Tagmatium. If anyone wishes for their position near/on a tectonic plate to change please state so. Also; you are of course allowed to ignore any tectonic hazards that might occur in your nation due to the changes as with anything provided here - we are not the ones with the final say in your country. Well I mean, technically Orioni and the admins do if they believe you are going too far. But that's besides the point. Ocean currents remain relatively the same except with the reduction in currents mixing between Aurelia and Antargis. Friendly reminder that if you are close to the equator and have a warm current at your coastlines you can (realistically - up to you) have large expanses of coral reefs if you also have large regions of continental shelving. Continental shelves were not changed from the previous version except to accommodate the new/moved/removed landmasses. Prymont's continental shelving was extended slightly to be inline with the larger tectonic plate (and to allow for more fishing). Conclusion Although the first version came out on rocky terms and issues regarding communication, we have strived for this next version to be more transparent with the community and directly involving the members with more of the precise changes. Of course there is still much to do regarding both our quality of communication and the maps, but we hope that in the end everyone will come out of this happier and more satisfied with their countries and the wurld as a whole then when we started. In 2-3 days time, we will be releasing a second questionnaire regarding these proposed changes and to give you enough time to come to some conclusions about the proposal. If all goes well we will be able to begin work on the climate maps and as well join up with members of the community directly to begin work on maps for historic migration, modern day cultures, and distribution of cultures. But all in due time.
  12. The Capital Paper "Murder on the Montagna Express" Last night at 1am, two men were wounded and another man killed by a man wielding a knife whilst on the Third Montagna Express. The perpetrator, Fabiano Acciai, was caught stabbing two men on the train as it was entering the Pōcatep mountain tunnel at 1:02 AM. A man by the name of Otaxo Moyauh attempted to apprehend Fabiano Acciai but was stabbed in the chest. By the time the train had exit the tunnel, the security guards onboard were able to restrict and disarm Fabiano Acciai until the train reached the nearest station - Tihua station - to be arrested. One of the first men stabbed is currently in critical condition in hospital with the other only suffering a minor injury. Sadly, Otaxo Moyauh had died from blood loss before the emergency services could arrive to the Tihua station. Whilst Fabiano Acciai awaits trial, it is unknown which country he will be tried in as the Montagna Express' had passed the border into the Kingdom of @Eulycea when arriving at the Tihua station and arrested. However, the murder and assaults had occurred within Metztlitlaca territory, with Acciai himself coming from Metztlitlaca from the town of Jā O'icxoitlim in the northern reaches of the Tapelt Dominion. The train is maintained by the Montagna Company situated in Eulycea. Third Montagna Express leaving the Dominion of Xinmetztli, picture provided by the Montagna Company. Fabiano Acciai stated he attacked the two men due an ongoing cartel war in the northern Calpullalis of the Tapelt Dominion, with the other two men part of a rival cartel group. Acciai also stated that he "had no intention of killing Otaxo Moyuah". No illegal drugs or similar contraband was found on Acciai upon his arrest. The first Montagna Express first made it's treacherous 518 kilometre long journey from Xinatlahuimiz to the Elycean capital of Brisa over the Tapatepetli Mountain Range in 1904 after thirty years of construction. The railway was first designed to carry light cargo from the colony of Mezzalunia controlled by the then Limonaian Empire over to the Kingdom of Eulycea to cut down travel time significantly. With the formation of the Unified Republic of Palu and then subsequently the Soul Palu Confederation the first Montagna Express was decommissioned and the railway closed. The Montagna railway's tunnels were often used by anti-fascist liberators from the early 60s up to the mid 70s as their bases of operations, with the famous Mountain Top Headquarters of the Cuatlacuil Armed Forces made into the highest museum in Metztlitlaca in 1981 at four and a half kilometres from sea level. The railway was reopened in 1988 with two trains running the railway. The Second Montagna Express was similar in size to the original with five carriages, four being passenger and the fifth a restaurant and bar. The Third Montagna was significantly smaller and only runs on the off-season when tourism is significantly lower.
  13. Broadcasts from the Crescent Broadcasts from the Crescent is the newspaper thread for the Dominions of Metztlitlaca and will be split mainly into 3 newspapers. The first newspaper and will be the most commonly used is the Capital Paper. Founded in 1843 by the Archpriest at the time, the Capital Paper is a nationally run corporation managed directly by the Teopac of Finance and the Teopac of Culture and Religious Life. When the Unified Republic of Palu first came to power after colonialism, the Capital Paper was renamed to the Palu Papers and then used to propagate propaganda across the nation. The Limonaian Republic after used the Palu Paper under the same name as their own propaganda company. The Kingdoms of Metztlica and Acolica attempted to shut down the Palu Papers due to it's controversial history, but was eventually allowed to continue to exist as long as they returned to their initial branding of the Capital Paper and remained a nationalised company. Although the Capital Paper declares itself to be politically and culturally neutral it's perspective on stories are often bias towards the government and the economy. The Capital Paper is also one of the few Newspaper companies which repeatedly addresses global issues as well as major headlines from other nations, giving it some rather powerful political influence over the public. The second newspaper is the Truths of Metztli, a more culturally right-wing newspaper that primarily sells in the Azlo and Faloki communities with a strong bias towards LAANN and Metztli Nationalist and against Il Domineo and the greater wurld community. Although Truths of Metztli has the economic capabilities to go out to other nations and report on major headlines, besides LAANN they rarely talk about the wurld outside of Metztlitlaca. Despite their name, take what they say with a grain of salt. The Truths of Metztli is relatively new, only beginning to print in 1999 but has soared in popularity within the Faloki and Azlo due to it's anti-oppressor attitude and anti-globalist ideology (not counting LAANN, of course). Several times in the 2000s and 2010s the Teopac of Culture and Religious Life took the Truths of Metztli to court over perceived hate speeches. In the end the Truths of Metztli prevailed as they never explicitly broke any laws pertaining towards hate speech. Lastly is the Vocal Voice, a culturally and economically left-wing company that often works alongside the Teopac of Finance. Founded in 1948 the Vocal Voice was initially the national newspaper of the South Palu Confederation but was shut down once the Limonaian Republic annexed the nation. In 1988 the Vocal Voice was re-established with the help of the Teopac of Finance 40 years after it's initial closure. The Vocal Voice is most prominent in the Yatotlan, Tapelt, Pekatekan, and Xinmetztli Dominions due to leaning more towards left-liberal then the rest of the nation. Nowadays however, the Vocal Voice is known for it's more scandalous and less-than-mature writing compared to the more passionately written Truths of Metztli or logically typed Capital Paper. The Vocal Voice is far more secular then it's two competitors, and rarely reports on religion/faith-based news stories unless said news story impacts the whole nation greatly. The Vocal Voice may not fact check as much as the Capital Paper, and so it can come off as just as bias as the Truths of Metztli - albeit in a completely different direction. One thing you might notice about all three logos is that none of them possess any text, as iconography is far more important to the Metztlitlacans then text due to the numerous national languages within the country - most of which blend into one another at tribal and ethnic borders - resulting in a bureaucratic nightmare for any company. If text is used, it usually printed in Standardised Naxua, the Yatotlan Dialect of Cristinese, and the Faloki Dialect of Huang all written in the Aroman alphabet along with Standard Anglish and the Salxa Dialect of Salvian in the Acolica Dominion; Tapelt Naxua if in the northern half of the Yatotla Dominion and Tapelt Dominion; and Pekatekan and Anglish in the Pekateka Dominion. Therefore the easiest thing to do is to have a recognisable logo if your company exists beyond your local community.
  14. Climate Gang Update NOTE: Everything in this post is NOT FINAL. It is meant to be discussed and changed, nothing here is finalised. Due to all the climate rework and map reworks, the maps we currently use have large discrepancies between them - such as island chains missing or moved. As such for the past couple weeks, I, @Sunset Sea Islands, @Heiheguo, and @Orioni have been working on producing a large range of maps that will be consistent, coherent, and easily readable. Although we haven't been private about our current project we believe now is a good time to be completely open and show what we have made so far as part of an act of transparency, and allow for those who disagree to have their voices heard and acknowledged before it becomes unmanageable. So far we have a new blank map of Eurth (see below), which is something we have been sorely needing for several months now. Using this map the differences made are more obvious. Each change shown on the rework map that's labelled will be given their own short paragraph on why we made those decisions. Annoyingly this post was meant to come out *before* Orioni posted the new map into the changelogs but due to mixed messages he posted it before hand. So if anyone would like changes to be done to the map we would happily amend the changelog. "Why was Marenesia packed in together?" This was done mostly by SSI and thus I believe it would only be right for SSI to be the one to explain his reasoning: Of course this may be the most controversial change of the map, so we are very willing to accommodate for any nations based in Marenesia which wish to voice their complaints to have their island moved back to it's original location. "Why was the Manamana isthmus shrunk?" The Manamana isthmus was shrunk in order to make the Manamana canal more viable. I should state however that SSI had no part in the decision for this change except the final nod of approval. The thickness of the isthmus is still larger then that of the Panama isthmus so that historically a canal from the Manamana bay into the Adlantic would of been impossible, and only now with modern equipment would it be possible - albeit incredibly expensive. Initially there was also plans to shrink the isthmus between the Mediargic and Canamo Sea to allow for a realistic canal placement for @Prymont, but that would of required Dniester to be severely reduced in size. Those who reside in that part of Argis can decide amongst each other the best course of action - either to change isthmus or to keep it the same. "What's with the changes to the islands in the Adlantic?" With a newly reworked tectonic plate map based off SSI's proposal, it was seen as important to make the wurld's island distribution less chaotic. At first that might sound stupid, but if you look at the real world many islands follow island chains such as the Caribbean, Pacific ring of fire, and even the pacific ocean islands - which are loosely in a chain going east to west. Islands held by @Oyus, @Galahinda, @Gallambria have not been moved. "What happened to Marenesia?" It was Orioni's decision for the introduction of a Marenesia-Europan island bridge, as such it'll be best for him to explain why; The islands also line up with the tectonic boundary between Marenesia Major and Marenesia Minor as well as serves for a location for possible expansion for nations in Marenesia or southern Europa. @Kualoa and the Marenesia Minor islands were shrunken down as to increase the range of island sizes on Eurth - giving more variability - as well as making their formation from volcanic hotspots more credible. We felt confident in shrinking the islands as Kualoa has been inactive since September 15, 2017 and following protocol should of had their nation removed by now. "Why remove unnecessary islands? Every island is special in their own unique way!" It looked weird on a globe and it's placement meant that the likelihood of someone wanting to expand onto it was unlikely. If it makes you feel any better the island(s) that were there were shrunken and moved around the globe to be used in other locations. Rest in peace Frisland. "Why is Antargis different?" The changes to Antargis may be the largest physical change in on the map and most likely the one to be rejected by the community. But just seeing side-by-side images of the old and new Antargis can show our reasons very clearly: Old Antargis | New Antargis Old Antargis is ugly. On a more serious note, the completely different Antargis will require nations who own bases in Antargis to have to reposition their bases (or we can try place them in a location as close to the original as possible). However, this can also be used as a time of rethinking and trying out ideas you never had the opportunity to try. New Antargis also doesn't have the issues that Old Antargis did where most of it's coastline was habitable due to being too large - which is why New Antargis is smaller. However, part of the New Antargis coastline will still remain habitable, as unlike Earth's Antarctica which is positioned in such a way as to not have warm currents from lower latitudes reach the continent, Antargis is linked with the wurld's global current systems. This can either be ignored or we can use this unique situation to our advantage and allow for small colonies along the habitable portions of the coastline. Once again, this is up to those who have an interest in the continent and if they accept the changes. Tectonic Plates Map The names used in the new tectonic plate map are temporary and are only there to help identify key locations and boundaries. If anyone has better names for tectonic plates please post them in this thread. Below is the old tectonic plate map for comparisons: Each plate was created for a purpose, but due to oddities in the topography of Eurth many odd tectonic plates had to be constructed. An example of this is the Ragan and Suverin plates. The two minor plates were placed there to counter the collision of the Adlantic and Europan plates which would of caused the formation of Himalayan-like mountains. As @Tagmatium Rules plans to expand into the unclaimed region there, it would be unfair to him to suddenly put a large mountain range and destroy a large chunk of his history. For opposite reasons the Argic plate was split between the Argis and Arcto plates so that Prymont's northern mountains remain intact. The Tiauhai and Flauton plates in SSI's proposal was one single plate, however it had to be cut in half so that @Andalla's request could be achieved. The Hekla plate has no reason to exist other then to further my tectonic plate fetish of the Scotia Plate. The new tectonic boundaries also help highlight the new island chains (Marenesia-Marenesia, Adisi-Meso, Adisi-Fulgiotan, Adisi-Marenesia, Dolch-Adlantic, etc.). I should apologise to Prymont, Oyus, @Yeosan, @Greater Serbia as realistically earthquakes and volcanoes may become an issue in your nations. However as it's not up to me to decide what happens in your nations - feel free to ignore any tectonic hazards you like. Continental Shelf Map The most useless and useful map so far, the continental shelf map. Regions with large continental shelving tend to have higher abundance of fish, so if your nation is meant to be well known for it's open ocean fishing and you lack sufficient continental shelving for the type of fish you fish, feel free to show us how you would like it to be amended. The large continental shelving in eastern Alharu, phantom islands in Marenesia and it's landbridges are there to help further emphasis the ice age migration of Europans into the New Wurld. End Product Map Sadly we currently do not have a map of just the topography yet but here is a map of all the changes in one. No topography within a person's nation was changed besides @Lusotropia, @Kaitaine, and @Yeosan. The largest changes were in central Alharu, where the highlands were reduced in size and made accurate to their real-life counterparts (East African Rift Valley). Due to all the changes, rivers had to be tweaked subtly. So if you wish to fully detail out your river system, now would be a good time to do so (See Heiheguo's river system). Other There are of course some things we still need to work on. Using our current knowledge we have plans for the creation of two separate climate maps; One that is easily readable with basic names such as 'jungle' or 'desert', and another that uses an in-depth version of the Köppen climate classification system. The more in-depth version will be designed using two global air current circulation map like the ones below as well as using a more detailed ocean currents map (also below). On the left is the complex ocean currents and on the right are the simplistic ocean currents. Lastly with the help of other staff members, all inactive nations will begin to go through a process which determines if they should remain on the map, be reworked, shrunken, or deleted. However this last part is uncertain and will only be achieved once all the pieces are in place. We hope for further transparency in the future and that these maps are not too controversial.
  15. Metztlitlaca - Short Overview The Dominions of Metztlitlaca, the ex-colony of the Empire of Shffahkia, gained it's independence in 1951 after the Shffahkian revolution destroyed the initial empire with the old monarchy fleeing to the colony to form the Crescent Kingdom. Due to Shffahkian and Fulgistani influence, a violent coup overthrew the Crescent Kingdom to eventually form the South Palu Confederation. The SPC eventually came to an end between 1992-2010 depending on who you ask which led to the current regieme. The nation isn't very well known by the average person living in Argis or Europa, just another Low-Income-Country within Alharu/Aurelia, perhaps only common stereotypes of a mass-slavery and human sacrifice ever reaches the ears of those high above in the northern hemisphere. Of course like any country, Metztlitlaca is far more complex then a couple stereotypes. Area: 686,550 km^2 Perimeter: 5625 km Population: 21,430,663 Population Density: 31.22 per km^2 GDP per Capita: $3,010.25 GDP total: $64,511,653,300 Metztlitlaca is a loose federation of 7 dominions.. 2 of the 7 dominions are ran as constitutional monarchies with considerable but not complete power, with the other 5 ran as republics. Each Dominion has high levels of autonomy politically with their own devolved parliaments under their own unitary systems. All Dominions must follow the Teopac of Collective Intent (the highest governing body). Democracy within Metztlitlalio is corrupt and the few political parties involved are often easily bribed by outside forces. Cultures & Religion. The Azlo indigenous group migrated into southern Palu in 300 AD, almost entirely replacing the original inhabitants related to the Lyceans in northern Palu except for the Iwica on the south-eastern coast. Currently there are 14 ethnic groups that make up the greater Azlo cultural group. The Metztlica are the largest group and the namesake of the nation. The others are the Tlaxcalixe, Tepanizo, Tlahuizo, Colhuazo, Chalica, Khīlitikhī, Acolīca, Cohlca, Xochimīca, Pipīlca, [Mountain_1], [Jungle_1], and [Desert_1]. The two non-indigenous groups to Metztlitlaca are the Hong (Huang migrants from Fulgistan, interracial marriages are very common) and the Yatotla as mentioned previously. Due to Shffahkian colonialism from 1800-1851 and Salvian crusader states from the 17th to 18th centuries, Christianity carved itself a large section of influence in the nation - primarily across the coastline - with Huecatoc (the native pagan religion of the Azlo) making up much of the interior. The Shffahkian Christianity that came to southern Palu was primarily Fleur de Lysian Catholicism which is remarkably similar to the Salvian Catholicism brought upon by Slavian crusaders. Economy Only 20% of the nation’s population live in urban areas, primarily within the capital city of economic centres. 62% of Metztlitlacans work in the primary sector, split primarily between agriculture (generic cash crops and more exotic tropical fruits and vegetables) and mining of low-density metals – primarily Aluminium, Titanium, and Magnesium -, with smaller parts in forestry and fishing. 21% work in the secondary sector in manufacturing and refinery of metals. Lastly only 12% work in the tertiary sector – primarily tourism. The last 5% is within administration or quaternary sector businesses. This has begun to change in recent years due to international aid in the industrialization of Metztlitlaca as well as the encouragement of tourists into the nation from Il Domineo nations and Fulgistan. Metztlitlaca follows a State Capitalist economics model with the Teopac of Finance being the major body in regulations and management of national companies. Due to wide-scale corruption within the government the Teopac of Finance can often be sluggish or turn a blind eye towards more anti-consumer policies or ideas. One major issue within the economy – especially the agricultural sector – is the use of mass forced labour from prisons, which has been a part of the economy since ancient times and exploited heavily during Limonaian rule. Current aid for industrialisation have come with added rules towards the gradual removal of forced labour. Tourism is a moderately sized sector, primarily around the capitals of coastal dominions with the tourist capital of Nuovo Arburio – pronounced Nuvo Abulio in the Yatotlan Cristinese dialect. Generally tourist advisors state to remain within certain dominions and dominion capitals when travelling. When coming to Metztlitlaca, it is also heavily advised and even required by many tourist companies to take several injections for tropical diseases such as Malaria before coming into the country as Malaria is an all-season disease at higher latitudes/ Military & Foreign Affairs Metztlitlaca's military is almost entirely for homefield use with limited capabilities to extend outside of the Palu Peninsula or LAANN nations. Metztlitlaca gets most of it's military equipment and firearms from Fulgistan. The nation has very few tanks , instead relying on primarily armoured vehicles and towed artillery along with infantry. There isn't much to talk about here outside of Azlo War Culture and it's leanings towards authoritarianism. Metztlitlaca is willing to befriend more unorthodox regimes that the rest of the Eurth community may be more anxious to (openly) trade and interact with. However, most of Metztlitlaca's network of alliances are within Il Domineo and the League of Alharu and Aurelian Native Nations. Metztlitlaca has an economic partnership program designed around the removal of forced prison labour, although prison labour isn't unique to Metztlitlaca, it's explicit and mass-usage along with a highly punitive prison have led many to condemn the nation for it's practises. Current aid for industrialisation comes with additional guidelines towards the gradual removal of said forced labour under the economic partnership program.
